Sunderland VLB Co-Response Team

Sunderland VLB Co-Respond For North East Ambulance Service.

The team have recently undergone medical training, provided by North East Ambulance Service, to allow Team Members to respond to medical emergencies in our normal area of operation.

The teams landrover vehicle and cycle repsonse team carry defibrillators, medical oxygen and advanced medical kits to ensure that persons in need of assistance can be given the best care until an Ambulance arrives.

The aim of Co-Responding is not to replace the Ambulance Service - merely provide assistance in busy times until an Ambulance unit can arrive on scene. The scheme is similar to the much publicised first responder scheme, the only difference being we use our emergency vehicle to respond to incidents.

The teams primary role remains Coastal Search and Rescue and this facility will not be comprimised through our work with NEAS.
