Sunderland VLB operates a Coastal Search and Cliff Rescue team as a declared facility for HM Coastguard and has done since 1877.
Our volunteer team are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist HM Coastguard and other services in the area North from Ryhope Dene, Sunderland to Marsden, South Tyneside.
The Brigade is funded entirely by chartiable donations and fundraising undertaken by the management commitee and members of the team.
SVLB also operates a Coastwatch Station which acts as a focal point for local maritime activites and provides extra safety to the users of the sea around Sunderland.
